Wellington College Hangzhou is ready to celebrate its inaugural cohort of graduates, marking a significant milestone after five years of development. So far, our graduates have successfully received university offers from such countries as the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. They will be majoring in fields such as mathematics, architecture, economics, finance and fashion management. 

In accordance with recent statistics, our inaugural cohort of pupils has received close to 20 offers of admission, averaging two offers per pupil. The highest number of offers received by a single pupil stands at an impressive five. This achievement not only underscores the exceptional academic performance and high standards of our pupils but also contributes to enhancing the reputation of our school. It serves as a source of inspiration, encouraging more pupils to dedicate themselves to diligent study and the pursuit of excellence.

It is noteworthy that a substantial number of this graduating cohort are founding pupils from Huili School Hangzhou, who have been part of our community since our inception. They have demonstrated and benefitted from the Huili values of kindness, responsibility, respect, courage, and integrity, as reflected in their remarkable growth and development over the years. Their journey at Huili has not only empowered them to find their ideal university and major but also profoundly shaped their character and values. 

For many pupils and parents, navigating the complexities of applying to an overseas university can be a formidable task. At Wellington College Hangzhou, we recognise that with the appropriate training, guidance and mentorship, every pupil can fulfil their ambition of entering the university of their choice. Therefore, we present systematic provisions to ensure that our pupils are fully prepared for university applications. 

Wellington College Hangzhou boasts a team of experienced university counsellors led by the Head of Sixth Form. Each member of the team has spent several years studying abroad, and between them, they possess over 20 years' worth of experience in guiding pupils in planning their university pathways. With a broad and in-depth understanding of universities worldwide, the team is proficient in various aspects, such as selecting courses and comprehending campus culture. They have proven experience in effectively assisting pupils in finding their ideal universities and majors. 

From G8/Y9, Wellington College Hangzhou pupils receive individual guidance from the school. The university counsellors collaborate with them closely to discover their academic interests, analyse their potential, and assist them in selecting suitable IGCSE and A Level courses.

Starting from G10/Y11, we provide weekly university preparation courses that cover the higher education system and the characteristics of major destination countries. Additionally, we offer guidance on university application policies, personal statement writing, as well as preparation for admissions exams and interviews. 

We also provide pupils with professional personality and career tests to assist them in selecting appropriate majors and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, we help them choose summer school programmes based on their career aspirations and desired destination country. This approach helps to develop their teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills, ultimately enhancing their overall competitiveness for university applications. 

Wellington College Hangzhou conducts frequent parent workshops centred around the theme of pathways that help inform parents about overseas universities and pathway planning. Additionally, we arrange regular one-on-one pathway discussions with both parents and pupils to involve parents in the process and provide enhanced support. 

During university applications, pupils are supported in perfecting their application profile, writing and finalising the documents, submitting the application and obtaining offers. They will also enjoy the pre-departure guidance to be both mentally and physically prepared for their life abroad. We invite overseas university admission officers to communicate face-to-face communication with our pupils and parents, so they are informed of the most updated overseas university admission information. 

Additionally, we attend and host university fairs bringing together hundreds of admission officers around the world so pupils and parents can learn more about their desired universities, including the upcoming 2024 Universities Spring Fair.

Wellington College Hangzhou utilises the global resources of Wellington College UK and collaborates closely with the college guidance programmes of our sister schools to acquire expertise and share best practice. This partnership empowers us to offer our pupils comprehensive university guidance services. 

We offer additional resources and tutoring for pupils who require extra support with their entrance exams and organise mock interviews so they are equipped and fully prepared to embrace the interviews. Wellington College Hangzhou is dedicated to offering our pupils the necessary support and guidance to reach their university aspirations. We provide one-on-one university interviews, university preparation programmes and parent workshops to ensure that the pupils are well-prepared for their future academic endeavours.

In addition to the Hangzhou campus, each of our sister schools in WCC has a university guidance team specialising in various fields of study. These teams accompany each pupil through the complexities of their educational journey, offering crucial guidance and assistance to help them transform their dreams into a tangible future.
