Sports Scholarships
A Wellington Scholarship is awarded for excellence and high-level potential for a limited number of individuals. To be eligible for a Scholarship a pupil will be in years 10 to 13, although exceptional pupils from year 7 upwards will be considered. It constitutes a bespoke programme of study in addition to the normal curriculum, and either a 50% or 100% fee reduction for the right person. The Scholarship is for highly motivated and talented pupils. The ideal candidate should have a burning desire to continue their Scholarship area at university and beyond. They are expected to contribute fully to College life while leading in their disciplines.
It is reviewed annually when a continuation of the award will be decided.
Scholarships are offered in three distinct areas, Academics, Arts and Sports.
Sports Scholarships
A Sport Scholar will be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the school and demonstrate exceptional talent in one sport.
The candidate for this award needs to have a demonstrated high level of performance in their chosen Sport with an aim and ability to progress to a top-ranked university.
A work ethic that shows diligence, an active and positive leading role amongst Sport pupils and an ability to inspire others is expected. To be fully committed and involved in an external sporting pathway, such as with a club, county, regional or national representation.
Application Criteria

Academic records from schools showing record of good progress in all subjects and proven excellence in Sport

CAT4(or other benchmarking testing) results

An essay on the topic of your choice (properly referenced) and with a minimum word count of 1000 words

APortfolio of awards and accomplishments. Local, National or Internationalrepresentational honours
7
Interviewand references from current clubs, schools or coaches
How to apply
A preliminary review of the application will be conducted by the relevant department. Selected candidates will be invited to an assessment day, audition or trial and a panel interview.
