Residential Trips: Building Character Through Adventures!

13 Jun 2025

This term, our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils embarked on unforgettable residential trips to Anji and Beijing, where they not only explored new places but also developed essential life skills and demonstrated our school values: courage, responsibility, kindness, integrity and respect.

Year 4's First Night Away

in Anji

For many Year 4 pupils, this one-night trip was their first time away from home, making it a huge milestone in their journey towards independence. They embraced challenges like the Tree Top Challenge, where they conquered fears of heights, and Archery Tag, learning focus and teamwork. During the Wilderness Survival Workshop, they took responsibility for building shelters and purifying water—practical skills that boosted their confidence.

The Campfire Party was a highlight, where pupils showed kindness by cheering on their peers during the talent show and respect by listening attentively to each performance. Even packing their own bags and managing their belongings reinforced responsibility and integrity.

Year 5 & 6's Adventure

in Beijing

The older pupils faced a three-night trip, requiring even greater independence and resilience. On the Great Wall, they demonstrated courage—some scaling steep steps, others abseiling down a dam. During the Chinese Woodwork Workshop, they practised patience and precision, carefully crafting their pieces with focus.

Cultural visits to the Forbidden City and Acrobatics School deepened their respect for China's heritage, while the Hutong Scavenger Hunt encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. At meals and in shared rooms, they showed kindness by helping peers and integrity by following routines without reminders.

A Community Effort

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our staff. A heartfelt thank you to all staff who attended the trips to ensure that the children had an unforgettable time.

These trips were more than just fun—they were transformative. Pupils returned with greater resilience, stronger friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. We are so proud of how they embodied our values every step of the way! We know that they will be talking about these memories in the years to come!
