The Malim Project, meticulously designed by Wellington College UK, offers pupils a unique academic platform to pursue interdisciplinary research on self-selected topics. More than just a prestigious academic challenge, it serves as a holistic opportunity to develop and refine pupils' independent learning skills. Participants transcend the boundaries of traditional subjects, explore their passions, and unlock their innate passion for learning and innovation.

Among many submissions, Ava's work on campus bullying stood out. With exquisite yet heartfelt writing, she painted vivid pictures that revealed the profound impact of campus bullying. Ava demonstrates not only exceptional storytelling skills but also a remarkable ability to convey deep emotions. Her carefully crafted words leave a lasting impression on readers.

Q

How do you feel about making it to the final?

Ava: I feel incredibly proud and excited to have made it to the final. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and reaching this stage feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication. I'm also very grateful for the opportunity to share my work. It's an honour to have my efforts recognised, and I am thrilled to connect with an audience who appreciates the themes and nuances of my project.

Q

What do you think are the benefits of participating in this competition for yourself?

Ava: Participating in this competition has been incredibly beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, it has given me a lot more confidence in my writing and creativity. The process of developing and refining my work, along with the feedback I received, helped me grow as a writer. I also learned how to express deeper ideas and emotions through writing. This experience has refined my ability to convey complex thoughts and feelings in a way that resonates with readers. Additionally, the exposure to other talented writers and their works has been inspiring and has broadened my understanding of different writing styles and perspectives.

Q

Do you have any advice for pupils who want to participate in this competition?

Ava: My advice would be to choose a topic you're genuinely passionate about because that enthusiasm will show in your final work. When you are deeply interested in your topic, it naturally translates into a more compelling and honest piece of writing. This enthusiasm makes the process so much easier and more enjoyable. Additionally, it's important to put in the hard work and not get discouraged by setbacks. Use feedback constructively to improve your work and remember that persistence is key. Finally, don't be afraid to take risks with your writing – originality and authenticity can set your work apart.
