Wellington Lions Triumph at FOBISIA Golf

The Wellington Lions Golf Team made a spectacular debut at the FOBISIA Golf Tournament in Bangkok, competing against Asia's elite British international schools. Their phenomenal display of grit, precision and resilience resulted in remarkable achievements.

Day 1: Thai Country Club

 

Facing scorching heat, lightning-fast greens, and narrow fairways, the Lions battled to find their footing early. A late surge of momentum on the closing holes fuelled their determination for Day 2.

Day 2: Amata Spring Golf Club

 

The team truly came alive! Dominance shone in the U11 and U13 girls' divisions, with Belle, Sunny, and Jenny climbing up the leaderboard. A thrilling five-birdie streak in the final hour positioned Wellington as serious title contenders going into Day 3.

Day 3: Ballyshear Golf Club

 

The historic links-style layout tested every skill. The whole team delivered incredible performances, mastering challenging bunkers and piling pressure on the leaders until the final hole.

A recent FOBISIA golf tournament in the vibrant city of Bangkok witnessed an impressive assembly of budding golf enthusiasts from various international schools across the region. The prestigious event, held at the renowned Alpine Golf Club, brought together young athletes for a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship.

This year's tournament saw participation from numerous schools, including The British School of Bangkok, Dulwich College Shanghai and Garden International School Kuala Lumpur. Each team showcased remarkable talent and determination, making the event a memorable experience for all involved. 

 

As the athletes swung their clubs under the clear Bangkok skies, their passion and dedication to the sport were evident. This FOBISIA golf tournament not only highlighted the region's emerging golf talent but also underscored the importance of sports in fostering lifelong values and friendships among pupils.

Sunny, Jenny, and Belle led the charge with remarkable finishes in their respective categories, propelling the Lions to garner prestigious accolades, including the coveted Girls' Team second place overall. Their achievements stand testament not only to their individual skill but also to the values of teamwork, resilience and dedication nurtured by their school.
