Innovative Maths Programme Drives Achievements at Wellington

Our Year 2, Year 3, and Year 5 pupils have achieved top ranks within their respective year groups, with Year 2 and Year 5 pupils standing in the Top 1%. Collectively, Wellington College International Hangzhou Primary ranks in the Top 2.3% of over 300 schools measured against the English National Curriculum. Such outstanding achievements not only exemplify academic excellence but also our commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. To ensure a seamless and effective progression, we have tailored our Year 6 to Year 7 transition strategy specifically in the field of mathematics. 

Our approach focuses on the evolving needs of each child. By analysing current pupil attainment, we customise the learning path for each pupil—either by solidifying their primary curriculum knowledge or providing them with advanced insights into the Year 7 curriculum and beyond. This bespoke strategy means that a child's academic progress is determined by their level of understanding, not just their age. Such personalisation enhances each pupil's confidence and competency in mathematics as they step into the senior school arena.

To further aid the transition, we introduce Year 6 pupils to the senior school environment through a comprehensive Senior School Experience Day. During this special day, pupils have the opportunity to sample lessons across all subjects, including a tailored maths lesson conducted by a senior school teacher. This insightful experience not only familiarises pupils with the senior school setting but also allows them to adapt to new teaching styles and expectations.
