November Adventures: Celebrating School Activities
Early winter fills the campus with vitality and laughter. In academic activities, teachers and pupils delve into various topics, igniting sparks of wisdom. In creative workshops, everyone unleashes their inspiration, creating unique works of art. Community activities unfold in every corner, conveying the spirit of mutual help and love. On the sports fields, participants are fully engaged, with sweat and laughter intertwined. All these elements contribute to the rich and colourful campus life in November, vividly showcasing the unique charm of the school.
Academic School Activity
Diverse academic school activities involve multiple fields. These rich and colourful academic activities not only broaden pupils' horizons, acquire knowledge, and improve their exploratory abilities but also enrich the campus cultural atmosphere. Moreover, they significantly stimulate pupils’ interest and thirst for knowledge, making our school activities full of anticipation and joy.
LAMDA: Communication:
Speaking Verse & Prose
This LAMDA(London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) SA is designed for pupils who want to improve their English-speaking skills and literature appreciation through the study of verse and prose. Pupils will learn effective expressions, including projection, articulation, and facial expression. They will also explore a range of texts, from classic poetry to contemporary prose, and learn how to analyse and interpret them. Attendees can gain confidence in English speaking, as well as literary edification.
ASDAN Geography BEECompetition
Reading ten thousand books and traveling ten thousand miles. Geography is not only a subject but also a way to broaden one's horizons. The International Geography Bee (IGB) is an academic geography challenge organized by the International Academic Competitions Committee. Pupils who attend this SA has a good opportunity to enlarge their geographical knowledge, as well as compete with other geography lovers and embrace a vast magnificent world.
Creative School Activity
In creative school activities, pupils try different materials and techniques to produce unique works of art. Through collaboration and sharing, they further stimulate each other's innovative potential. These activities not only develop pupils’ aesthetic abilities and practical skills, but also enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Drama and Music
All WCIH Year 6 pupils are invited to participate in the production of "Madagascar," immersing themselves in the world of music and drama. They will use compelling acting and inspiring music to shape characters and tell stories. This is not only an opportunity to showcase individual talents, but also a chance to highlight the beauty of collective art. With a stunning stage performance, they will celebrate their unforgettable elementary school journey in this creative way.
KS3 Fashion Design/Illustration
Starting with learning basic sketching techniques, colour theory, and fabric characteristics, gradually trying crochet and other textile techniques, and then exploring garment construction and digital design tools. In this interactive workshop, pupils develop their creativity and technical skills. Fashion design creates unique styles.
Community School Activity
Community school activities aim to create a harmonious and friendly living environment. Learn about the charm of the wilderness in bush craft, master basic survival skills, and enhance the young’s ability to adapt to nature and team collaboration. In activities such as donation drives and charity sales, strengthen community cohesion, and cultivate pupils’ charitable spirit and sense of social responsibility.
Sustainability
Protecting the Earth and creating a sustainable future is an attitude and responsibility that every global citizen should uphold. Through practical projects and activities, the concepts of resource conservation and environmental protection are instilled in the hearts of the young generation. From everyday materials to the organisms in the natural environment, pupils become advocates for sustainable development through various forms such as games and singing.
Charity Contributions (Dream House)
Dream House project actively advocates the best use of unused resources by integrating social resources and unused items from loving individuals in our community. The relevant public welfare organizations make resource allocation, gather the power of urban units or individuals, arrange twinning support, provide the materials needed for the growth and education of pupils in rural schools and families in need. Attendees pay close attention to the Daciyan Primary School in Jiande County Zhejiang Province, the partner local school with our Dream House project, and bring them warmth and support.
Physical School Activity
Physical activities aim to enhance pupils’ physical fitness, teamwork spirit, and sense of competition. Attendees not only improve their physical health, but also enjoy sporting fun and cultivate awareness of rules. Furthermore, these activities provide opportunities for pupils to make new friends and develop habits, contribute to the holistic development of the young while adding dynamism and vibrancy to campus life.
Badminton
Badminton is a fun and engaging activity that is an excellent way to improve hand-eye coordination, develop teamwork spirits and game consciousness. Except for serving, smashing, and footwork exercise, playing singles or doubles matches is an important way to test their learning results and gain friendship.
Fencing
Fencing is not a competitive fight based on brute strength, but rather emphasizes courtesy and agility. Every round of competition is a comprehensive test of both mental and physical abilities. It trains attendees’ thinking skills, ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and mental resilience in overcoming difficulties. Therefore, fencing is not only a meaningful form of exercise, but also an excellent educational method that is suited for modern society.
