Celebrating Anti-Bullying Week: Promoting Kindness and Unity
At Wellington College International Hangzhou, we take pride in fostering a safe and supportive environment for all our pupils. As part of our commitment to this mission, we had an extraordinary Anti-Bullying Week, full of engaging and impactful activities aimed at educating, inspiring and unifying our community.
House Poster Making Competition:
Creativity with a Cause
Our festivities kicked off with a creative and thoughtful house poster-making competition. This initiative allowed our pupils to channel their artistic skills toward a noble cause: educating their peers about the far-reaching impact of bullying.
The pupils poured their hearts into designing posters that conveyed powerful messages of empathy, respect and solidarity. Each poster was a testament to the pupils' understanding of the issue and their commitment to creating a more inclusive school environment.
PSHE Lessons: Learning to Speak Out
Understanding the significance of awareness and education in combating bullying, each teacher dedicated a lesson in the Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum to anti-bullying. During these sessions, pupils reflected on what it means to speak out against bullying and the importance of standing up for themselves and others.
These lessons fostered meaningful discussions and provided pupils with valuable tools to recognise, address and prevent bullying in their daily lives.
Odd Socks Day:
Celebrating Our Differences
On Wednesday, 13th November, our school embraced Odd Socks Day, a cheerful and symbolic event celebrating individuality and diversity. With each pupil and teacher donning a mismatched pair of socks, we celebrated the idea that it is okay to be different and that our unique traits make our school community vibrant and special.
Odd Socks Day was a colourful reminder that embracing our differences strengthens our unity.
Kindness Day: Spreading Goodness
Coinciding with Odd Socks Day was another essential event: Kindness Day. Our pupils were encouraged to perform random acts of kindness for one another throughout the day, creating a ripple effect of positivity and goodwill.
From simple gestures like sharing a friendly smile to helping a classmate with their work, the focus on kindness reinforced the value of compassion in building a supportive school culture.
