Staff Development, an Essential Investment
Investing in staff development is a priority for us, as it directly translates to the success and well-being of our pupils. We are proud to share that we have several of our teachers engaged in prestigious British qualifications that underscore their commitment to excellence in education:
Two teaching assistants are pursuing theInternational Postgraduate Certificate of Education (iPGCE) to enable them to become qualified teachers under the UK system.
One teaching assistant is pursuing the National Professional Qualification for Special Education Needs Coordinators (NPQSENCo).
Two teachers are pursuing the National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching (NPQLT).
Two middle leaders are completing the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).
One senior leader is undertaking the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
These qualifications testify to our dedication to providing our teachers and leaders with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead and innovate within our hallways and classrooms.
Furthermore, we have made substantial investments in coaching to nurture and enhance the capabilities of our staff. We offer staff beginner and advanced coaching programs, understanding that effective coaching is critical for fostering a collaborative and reflective teaching environment. Seven of our dedicated educators are currently undergoing training to become instructional coaches. This initiative ensures that our teachers continuously receive the support and mentorship they need to refine their practice and stay aligned with the latest educational methodologies.
Events like the annual Wellington Festival of Education exemplify our commitment to professional development. By bringing together thought leaders from around the globe, these events offer our teachers unparalleled opportunities to engage with cutting-edge theories and innovative teaching techniques. Last year, we were delighted to have two of our exceptional educators, Ms Jordan and Mr Rosolemos, speak at this prestigious event, highlighting their expertise and our school's commitment to education and development.
Ms Jordan, our Head of Primary English, delivered an enlightening talk titled ''Unlock the Magic of Reading: How to Build Lifelong Readers,'' focusing on the significance of reading and the latest curriculum updates from the English National Curriculum. Mr Rosolemos, our Pupil Well-being and PSHE lead, presented ''The Brilliant Basics Toolkit for Pupil Well-being,'' offering practical strategies for enhancing pupils' mental and emotional health.
As parents, it is reassuring to know that your child's educators are highly qualified and deeply committed to sharing their expertise with the wider education community. This dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth ensures that our teachers bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches into our classrooms daily.
At Wellington College International Hangzhou Primary, we are devoted to creating an environment where pupils and staff are empowered to be Learners, Connectors, and Changemakers. Investing in staff development is a crucial part of this mission, as it reinforces our commitment to providing an exceptional education and learning environment for your children. We are confident that our continued focus on professional growth will inspire and support our pupils to achieve their fullest potential and truly embody our ethos of ‘Be You, Be More’.
