Wellington College Hangzhou has long been celebrated for nurturing a culture of innovation, where imagination is encouraged, and concepts are transformed into tangible achievements. This summer, we launched two summer camp sessions, presenting a rich tapestry of captivating courses and activities designed to forge enduring friendships and ignite a passion for learning, all while propelling participants towards holistic personal development. Set within a free and inclusive internationalised environment, our summer camps cover three major themes, i.e., academics, sports, and leadership, a testament to our commitment to enlightening young minds and crafting one-of-a-kind experiences for our pupils.
These three types of summer camps offer a bespoke curriculum tailored to each age group from the youngest learners in early years to the older pupils in grade 9. STEAM, natural science, mathematical thinking, creative arts and crafts, and practical English language skills are encompassed for a dynamic community of participants with different backgrounds, English abilities, and interests, reflecting the essence of our summer camps. In the swimming pool, swimmers glide freely, embracing rhythm and coordination; on the fencing grounds, white warriors compete fiercely, showcasing strength and elegance; in the archery centre, young archers aim clearly, embodying focus and precision; in the gymnasium, tennis athletes play vigorously, celebrating speed and power. Various sports unleash pupils’ potential for growth, and thanks to the full participation, they display the spirit of being "swifter, higher, stronger, and more united.”

Brings English to Life
Don aprons and put on hats. Under the guidance of a foreign teacher, pupils make pizzas while learning English terms for various ingredients and utensils. Immersed in vivid scenarios, they hone their hands-on abilities, savour homemade delicacies, and chant self-composed rhymes. Here, English transforms from lifeless characters into lively communication, from a mere subject into a tangible life.

Trace Brilliant Tradition
Wearing T-shirt dyed by their own hands, pupils learn the beauty of traditional crafts in vibrant hues. From colouring to decorating, the unique lacquered fans in their hands carry pupils’ boundless enthusiasm for cultural heritage. As they appreciate ancient poetry, they learn the richness of Chinese culture—Lu You’s spirited words, "The kite rises sharply above the wind", still shines brightly through the ages. Glue first, and then paste and brush gold foil. The lifelike dragon shaped foil paintings gradually take shape, expressing good wishes to the youth in this era having vigorous spirit.

Show Amazing Wonders
Observe the vast universe, exploring the laws of planetary motion and explaining the phenomena of seasons and day-night cycles. Watch the clouds rolling and stretching, fully appreciating the subtle beauty of clouds; create cloud models to thoroughly understand cloud formation and characteristics. In the world of natural science, come closer to the earth, listen to the heartbeat of the planet, appreciate geological textures, and revere all aspects of nature.

Weave Through Daily Life
Explore the relationships between numbers and shapes: numbers are no longer dull, and shapes are no longer monotonous. Uncover the mysteries of geometry: plane is no longer flat, solid is no longer abstract. Unlock the door to mathematics, discover its beauty, and harness mathematical thinking to solve real-world problems. Pupils embark from preliminary components, learn the principles of submarines, practice in LEGO construction, apply software, and culminate in commanding robotics to accomplish tasks. In LEGO robotics programming lessons, physics knowledge and classic LEGO seamlessly intertwine, while logic's precision and childlike joy harmonize splendidly.

Following the design cycle of assessment - research - design – manufacturing, pupils fully immerse themselves in making acrylic projectors. Their bodies busy with laser cutters, acrylic bending machines, and wood processing equipment, while their minds ascend through realms of design thinking, material knowledge, and aesthetic concepts. From their hands, products emerge that beautifully blend functionality and visual appeal. It is here that pupil’s step into the boundless wonders of IGCSE-DT, where creativity and technology merge in a symphony of innovation.
