The Art Gallery at Wellington College Education (China) - Hangzhou has seen frequent displays of pupils' artistic works for exhibitions or themed presentations. Recently, an unprecedented opportunity opened for our pupils as their works were exhibited in a professional art gallery for the first time.

On 15th June, hundreds of pupils' artworks from Wellington College Education (China) - Hangzhou quietly awaited the arrival of visitors at Exhibition Room C2 in Hangzhou Winland Centre.

Paintings, sculptures, and installations – these artworks created by our imaginative and committed pupils ranging from the Nursery to Sixth Form displayed their artistic abilities. It also conveyed their deep comprehension of cooperation, all under the curatorial theme of "Community, Connection and Collaboration."

At the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to admire the diverse artistic styles of our pupils' creations, with some pieces drawing inspiration from the innovative techniques of acclaimed artists like Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Keith Haring, and Sam Cox.

As the modern Chinese writer and poet Yu Dafu once wrote, ‘artists are the creators of beauty’. Each piece on display acted as an aesthetic bridge to every soul, imparting a lasting impression of beauty.

Art education has always been a cornerstone of the curriculum at Wellington College Education (China) - Hangzhou. We focus on the development of pupils' aesthetic appreciation and creative abilities, inspiring them to express themselves through art. Guided by this educational ethos, our pupils are granted considerable freedom in their artistic endeavours, enabling them to articulate their distinct viewpoints and feelings.

We persistently inspire our pupils to uncover and delve into their potential, nurturing their innovative thinking and collaborative skills. It is through voluntary collaboration and support that each child can truly realise their potential. I am convinced that the artworks presented by the children in this exhibition have eloquently illustrated this idea.

It's noteworthy that the art exhibition included a charity auction segment. A selection of the pupils’ artworks was auctioned and all proceedings would be directed towards charitable endeavours to assist those in need. This initiative not only showcases our commitment to social responsibility but also empowers the visitors to make a charitable impact while immersing themselves in art.
