Since its establishment, the Wellington College Hangzhou Community Football Team has held various training sessions and matches. The team has a regular weekly training schedule on Fridays from 5-7 pm. Training will be cancelled in case of bad weather, and the fixtures will be arranged by the coach and team captain according to the team's training schedule.
The WCCH Community Football Team was established to unite parents and explore the recreational and social benefits of sports through football. Football promotes fitness and health; it also offers the opportunity for parents to relax and meet like-minded individuals as they experience the significance and joy of teamwork.
Theteam has been well-received by parents both within and outside the school andhas seen active participation. Unlike their typical role as observers andsupporters in their child's life, engaging in sports activities allows parentsto better understand their children's growth in sports and strengthens theirparent-child relationship.
It's worth noting that the WCCH community football team is coached by an outstanding coach who has a UEFA A coaching license and two master's degrees.
Sipan Petrosyan
Coach for community football team
Originally from Yerevan, Armenia in Eastern Europe, Sipan is a former professional football player. He founded Sports Culture Football Club and has been in Xiaoshan District for five years. Sipan has an impressive football career, having been a professional player in major leagues at the age of 16. At the age of 21, unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury that ended his career early.
However, he did not give up his dream of playing football and gained professional coaching experience working for professional football clubs.
"There is no boundary to learning and I have learned a great deal from my trainees throughout the process," Sipan asserts. According to him, being a coach entails having not only strong professional skills but also the ability to be an educator and a psychologist, to comprehend the trainee's needs and impart skills effectively.
At Wellington College Hangzhou, we are committed to the parent community in more ways than just forming a football team. We understand that parents are important partners and guides in their children's development and that their participation and support are crucial to the growth of our school. Therefore, we create different platforms to actively involve parents in various school events, and jointly assist children in their growth.
