HAPPY HALLOWEEN
The annual Halloween Spooktacular at Wellington College International Hangzhou brought together teachers, pupils and parents, for a spooktacular freaky Friday afternoon of fun and creativity. This year’s event was bigger and better than ever, reinforcing our school values and providing a memorable blend of creativity and unity.
Spooky activity highlights

Pupils unleashed their artistic skills by carving ghastly grins on pumpkins.
装饰纸杯蛋糕
Cupcake decorating
Sweet treats as pupils transformed cupcakes into bewitching treats with frosting and toppings.
手工制作
Craft making
Creepy crafters had a blast creating spooky decorations and props.
To add a touch of enchantment, a parent conjured up a spooky magician, who wowed us with mysterious tricks in one of the classrooms. The Halloween spirit was truly alive throughout every eerie corner of the school!
Families enjoyed carnival-style games, such as bewitching ring-tossing on a witch's hat, with wicked prizes and trick-or-treat opportunities for all. Laughter and excitement echoed in the atrium.
Teachers' perspective
“Today was a delightful exercise of unity and cultural sharing. Our task as educators goes beyond academics; we shape memories, and today we've etched joy in these children's hearts. Halloween or not, that's the spirit every day.”
“Watching the campus turn into a vibrant kaleidoscope of creativity and celebration fuels my passion. Today was magical - a true testament to the boundless creativity of our pupils. My favourite day in the school year, hands down.”
“Fantasy and costumes aside, it was a pure joy to watch the children connect with the origin and traditions of Halloween. They learned about the scientific aspects, the phases of the moon, and why Halloween is always the last day of October.”

Parents' perspective
“As parents, we find ourselves in constant negotiation between protecting our children from the world and letting them experience it. But watching my son's eyes sparkle behind his superhero mask, brimming with excitement and fearlessness, I was reminded of the magic of childhood—we, too, should wear our masks and meet life with open hearts.”
“The Halloween celebration at the school was a slice of home away from home. Seeing my daughter graduate from being afraid of 'ghosts' to portraying a charming and confident ghost herself was a memorable transition.”
“The Halloween afternoon at school replenished our spirits. Seeing my little girl so carefree and spirited, engaging and learning with a community that straddles all walls of nationality, makes me appreciate the inclusive environment that this school provides.”
“Looking at my daughter, dressed wonderfully as a mystical mermaid, engrossed in the Halloween fervour in her school, I couldn't help but think about the cross-cultural exposure she is receiving. We might be far from home, but I couldn't feel more at ease, knowing she is growing in a nurturing and vibrant community.”
The WCIH Halloween Spooktacular 2023 was a mesmerising display of the vibrant and inclusive community at Wellington College International Hangzhou. It brought our pupils, teachers, and parents together in a celebration of creativity and unity.
At WCIH, we are proud of our commitment to academic excellence, creativity, inclusion, and of course, hair-raising excitement! Events like this only reinforce our school values.
A huge thank you to the parent reps for their dedication to creating another spine-tingling Halloween atmosphere ensuring it was a ghostly success and that the parents had as much fun as the children.
