Top grades for Wellington College Hangzhou pupils in LAMDA exams
Congratulations to all Wellington College Hangzhou pupils that recently sat the LAMDA examinations. The staff are all incredibly proud of your achievements and your passion to excel in the fields of solo drama performances.
It takes courage to stand in front of strangers sat behind a computer screen and perform with true emotion. For 13 of our pupils, that is exactly what they did at the end of the last semester. Every pupil that entered the examinations held by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) was awarded with at least a merit, with 9 pupils being awarded a distinction – the highest possible grade.

Pupils from the primary schools of both Hiba Academy Hangzhou and Wellington College International Hangzhou met as part of the School Activities programme once a week with trained members of staff to prepare for their examinations. They spent time learning how to analyse poems and prose, determine points of view and discuss the mood created in the pieces and learnt how to perform each poem with clarity, confidence and passion. They then selected their favourite piece from the set texts and a piece of their own choice, all of which they recited from memory in the examination.
LAMDA certificates are internationally recognised for developing communication and performance skills as children continue studying, they are a great way of differentiating themselves when applying to universities around the world.
