Do you offer Chinese lessons?
Since Chinese is the official language of China, we make sure that our students perfect all the skills involved in the language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. We encourage our students to communicate in Chinese during their lessons and also outside in the wider community to ensure that they are getting the full experience of developing their knowledge of one of the most popular languages in the world.
In Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6), our pupils have five Chinese lessons each week. In Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9), our pupils have four Chinese lessons each week. In our two-year IGCSE Programme (Years 10 and 11), our pupils will enrol in one of three Chinese courses:
· Chinese (as a first language)
· Chinese (as a second language)
· Chinese (as a foreign language)
These courses are designed for foreign language speakers. The decision upon which IGCSE course to take will be determined by the school and based on academic progress, along with previous exposure to the language.
