These summer camps will be conducted around Wellington's vision of a whole-person education that is inspired, intellectual, individual, independent, and inclusive; with three types of camps: Global Sports Camp, Academic Intelligence Camp and Leadership Camp.
Global Sports Camp (Current EY4 to Y6)
It has been found that sports can improve cognitive function, memory, and concentration. At Global Sports Camp, pupils will have the opportunity to experience a variety of sports such as fencing, archery, golf, swimming, tennis, and fitness classes. Pupils will learn to be tolerant and self reliant while improving their athletic abilities and teamwork.
Academic Camp (Current EY4 to Y6)
This year's summer camp will lead pupils to explore, discover, learn, practice, analyse and create. Learning to learn is a topic to be explored throughout life. Instead of learning theoretical knowledge, pupils in the Academic Camps will learn how to apply what they have learnt in a real-world setting. Utilising maths, logic, programming, and science in these valuable learning experiences, pupils will explore different interests and ignite a brand-new passion.
Leadership Camp (Current Y7 to Y10)
In the Leadership Camp, pupils will discuss social phenomena, international issues, present and share their perspectives, and generate new ideas and insights through an exchange of ideas. Meanwhile, students will learn about economics, including the relationship between supply and demand, budgeting, investment, etc. Pupils will be able to understand the logic behind various economic phenomena in their lives and make wiser choices. It will also develop pupils’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills to reach their full individual potential.
The Wellington Hangzhou campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a temperature controlled swimming pool with six lanes and for large performances, a 560-seat grand theatre which is equipped with an advanced orchestra pit, allowing pupils to enjoy a world-class learning environment. (The site for the summer camp also includes the archery hall and outdoor golf range).
The school catering provider will provide rich, healthy, and nutritious meals (including morning snacks and lunch).
Is a school bus provided for summer camp?
School bus service is not available for the summer camp; therefore, the commute needs to be arranged by parents.
What are the class sizes for summer camp?
Twenty pupils in each class. The pupils will be divided into groups based on age. A mixed age group is possible.
Can pupils bring their electronic devices to the summer camp?
No, they cannot. Pupils are not allowed to bring electronic devices to the summer camp.
What if my child gets ill or injured during the summer camp?
There is a team of professional nurses for the summer camp. In case of injury or illness, the nurse will provide emergency treatment to the pupil and contact the parents immediately.
What about campus safety?
Professional security personnel will be on duty throughout the summer camp, and they will conduct regular patrols and inspections to ensure campus safety. All summer camp staff, as well as vendors, have a criminal record certificate from the police station and are required to check their work permit or ID card with the security guard when entering the school.
