Wellington College International Hangzhou and Hiba Academy Hangzhou both offer a world-class education. We are proud to have an unwavering commitment to excellence in everything that we do, and we expect the best academic provision for all our pupils.
Hiba Academy Hangzhou will adhere to the curriculum standards laid out by the Chinese national curriculum and Zhejiang Province guidelines in all areas. These standards and practices are enhanced by combining them with the very best of UK teaching methodologies and pedagogies, along with the Wellington College holistic approach, to ensure that our pupils are well-rounded and equipped with the 21st-century skills to succeed in their lives beyond the College.
The rigorous academic programme at Wellington College International Hangzhou is designed to challenge our pupils with the finest elements of the English national curriculum, framed within our international location to meet the needs of all our learners. Our pupils will study English, maths, science, art and Chinese, achieving personal and social development through the very highest standards.
All pupils between the ages of two and six, regardless of nationality, can enrol in Early Years 1 through 4 at Hiba Academy Hangzhou. If a child turns five before 1 September in any application year and meets one of three eligibility requirements, they can apply to transfer to Year 1 at Wellington College International Hangzhou.
In line with the admissions regulations for international schools in China, Wellington College International Hangzhou can only accept applications from pupils who meet specific criteria:

· Children of foreign personnel residing legally in China.

· Residents of Hong Kong, Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan who are residing legally in the province.

· Children of Chinese citizens legally residing outside of China.
Wellington College International Hangzhou accepts pupils from Year 1 to Year 12 (K-G11 in the American, Canadian and Chinese education systems). From Year 10 onwards, Wellington College International Hangzhou pupils will commence their IGCSE journey, culminating in IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. In Years 12 and 13, pupils will undertake a two-year A Level course in our Sixth Form.

To complete an application for Wellington College International Hangzhou, we kindly ask that you follow the steps below:

· Submit an application form for Wellington College International Hangzhou by registering an account here.

· Submit the required documents according to the 'Checklist' in our application portal, and a non-refundable 2,000 RMB application fee. The required documents include the following:

○ Application form

○ Child's passport

○ Child's visa (if applicable)

○ Child's birth certificate

○ Parent identification documents (passport information pages or the front/back of each parent's shenfenzheng)

○ Parents' visas (if applicable)

○ Child's academic records (past two academic years)

· Arrange a time for admissions testing (a 90-minute online assessment, 30-minute English writing assessment, and 30 to 45-minute family interview with at least one parent present). The online assessment and English writing assessment are required for applicants to Years 3 and above. Applicants to Years 1 and 2 will only be required to complete a family interview. We recommend that families complete their testing and interviews on campus. We are happy to arrange online interviews with families who are not currently based in Zhejiang Province.
Awards of up to 100% of the tuition fees will be available to successful applicants in Year 7 or above. Applicants will be expected to have recorded their previous academic results and assessment data, which demonstrate their likelihood of achieving strong IGCSE results. Class sizes do not exceed 24 pupils.
Since Chinese is the official language of China, we ensure that our pupils perfect all the skills involved in the language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. We encourage our pupils to communicate in Chinese during their lessons and also outside, in the wider community, to ensure they receive a comprehensive experience of developing their knowledge of one of the world's most widely spoken languages.
In Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6), our pupils have five Chinese lessons each week. In Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9), our pupils have four Chinese lessons each week. In our two-year IGCSE Programme (Years 10 and 11), our pupils will enrol in one of three Chinese courses:

· Chinese (as a first language)

· Chinese (as a second language)

· Chinese (as a foreign language)

These courses are designed for speakers of foreign languages. The decision on which IGCSE course to take will be made by the school, based on academic progress and previous exposure to the language.
Yes, there are separate Primary School and Senior Schools bus routes, and most residential areas of Hangzhou are covered.
