Head of Swimming 

We are proud to announce the impressive achievements of our WCCH swimming team at the FOBISIA Swimming Invitational 2024, hosted in Phuket, Thailand. The event featured over 900 of the best swimmers from 35 British International schools across Asia, making it a highly competitive event among schools in the Asian region.  

Our school's swimming team showcased exceptional skills and sportsmanship by winning multiple medals, and Top 8 awards. Moreover, WCCH was successful not only in individual athlete’s performances but in overall team performance as well. In the event there were two courses, the long course (50 metres) and the short course (25 metres). Hiba Academy Hangzhou proudly secured the 1st position out of 28 international schools in the short course events, Wellington College International Hangzhou was ranked fifth. The performance of Wellington College Education (China) - Hangzhou demonstrates the incredible talent and dedication of the individual swimmers, which highlights WCCH's commitment to promoting excellence in sport through its core values in sportsmanship and athletic achievements among its pupils. 

FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia), is an association of leading British international schools across Asia. As the only FOBISIA member school in the Hangzhou area, we recognise the importance of sports in building character, giving confidence, instilling discipline, teaching resilience and teamwork, as well as promoting physical wellbeing. Looking ahead, WCCH aims to continue nurturing pupils' passion for aquatic sports and other sports beyond the confines of the classroom by providing cutting-edge facilities, world-class coaching, and the opportunity to compete on the world stage.   

We thank the swimming team and incredibly talented coaching team for being unashamedly ambitious in their approach to nurturing young swimmers across our campus and providing them not only with the skills to enjoy swimming but to consistently develop their drive and ambition as well as compete on the world stage and thrive. We believe in building a strong relationship between school and home and this partnership has allowed our pupils to flourish. Our school values permeate through everything we do across our campus and allow our pupils to make exceptional progress: Respect, Kindness, Integrity, Responsibility and Courage. There are more events in the future, and we are looking forward to further strengthening our team, welcoming new members, and taking on new challenges.
