The Theatre Company SA Recreates a Classic Tale
The Theatre Company SA offers a platform for immersive artistic performances, dedicated to creating a multidimensional space for artistic exploration. This term's selected play is the classic production, Robin Hood, an epic medieval English narrative. Its distinctive historical setting provides pupils with a window into historic Western culture, encompassing the intricacies of knightly etiquette, the rhythm of Old English lines, the aesthetics of castle architecture and a glimpse into the feudal system. Through learning the script, pupils have engaged in a dialogue of civilisations across time and space.
During their weekly systematic practice, pupils honed their skills from role assignment to stage blocking. They refined their line delivery, fine-tuning character interactions and gradually constructed a coherent narrative structure. Balancing the dual challenges of academic pressure and artistic pursuit, they demonstrated exceptional time management skills: utilising fragmented moments to memorise lines and partnering effectively to enhance rehearsal efficiency, they transformed limited rehearsal time into a highly productive endeavour.
After months of practice, their rewards extended beyond the applause under the spotlight. They gained a profound understanding of teamwork, learning to integrate artistic expression with individual creativity. They discovered the art of conveying complex emotions through body language and immersed themselves in the timeless charm of theatrical art, which bridges the past and present through such a modern interpretation of a classical text. This stage narrative of 'responsibility' and 'courage' ultimately became a declaration of self-breakthrough for the participants: as the curtain rises, it unveils each individual's transformative journey of growth.

「Literary Synopsis」
Robin Hood is a widely celebrated epic tale that recounts the legendary adventures of the English heroic outlaw, Robin Hood. Set in twelfth-century England, the story follows Robin Hood, a noble-hearted outlaw who leads a group of outlaws to rob the rich and help the poor, fighting against injustice.
More than just a heroic legend, Robin Hood is also a story about justice, courage and friendship. It teaches us that only by standing up bravely for what is right can we truly change the world. At the same time, the tale highlights the power of friendship and resilience. No matter how great the challenges, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve ultimate victory as long as we stand united for the same goal.
This SA aims to provide the pupils with more opportunities to participate in the process from the beginning, all the way to the end and they were a part of fine-tuning the script a little bit, adding ideas to the set design, to the costumes, and from time to time, even help direct each other. They have also grown in their resilience, their confidence, their self-management and of course, their oracy skills.
